Our Story

"In our family, we love great baseball & awesome food, it's as simple as that!!"

A History

Our family’s story has always been intertwined with the fabric of baseball.

My wife Jan & I were first introduced during game 3 of the ‘04 ALCS at a mutual friend’s restaurant here in Colorado. The first thing I knew about her was that she was most definitely a Sox fan. Boston, that is. East Coast girl. I told her she’s gotta believe, and the first thing she knew about me was that I was an eternal optimist. As it turned out our serendipitous meeting fueled the Red Sox on to the greatest comeback in baseball history. And as that ‘Bunch of Idiots’ continued on and broke their 86 year curse, this idiot was swinging for the fences too! Naturally, I’ve been a Sox fan ever since. Of course, our kids are too. And this game has been a constant presence in our home to this day.

- Coach Brent

My parents both grew up as Dodgers fans, though, by very different routes. My dad, an eastern Colorado farm boy, ball player, and from our constant fan of the underdog, fell in love with the Brooklyn ‘Bums’ as a child and told me stories of listening on the radio when Jackie & the boys finally beat those damn Yanks in ‘55. My mom, a Southern California girl, caught on a little later...and rooted on Sandy & Don under the sunshine & palm trees. I’ll never forget watching Gibson hit his pinch homer in the ‘88 World Series with my parents living room.

I however, grew up a Cubs fan. Growing up in the Denver area in the ‘80’s you really only had two choices of teams you could actually watch and follow; the Braves on TBS or the Cubs on WGN. My uncle Doyle chose the Braves… A great deal of my youth was spent on the field playing ball, with my dad as coach. An even greater deal of my adulthood has been spent on the field too, coaching our incredible daughter & son as they chase their softball & baseball dreams. Fourteen years in and I can tell you this; the friends, relationships & memories we’ve all made along the way are the real trophy.

The Trip

In the summer of ‘22 my son Cordell & I embarked on an epic 3 week road trip from our home in Colorado to Cooperstown, NY for his 12u national baseball tournament. Now, this being our second ballplayer to go through travel-ball, we’re no strangers to out of town tourneys. But this was different, this was a big one. This was to-be the trip of a lifetime and we spent months planning out our travels together! We decided to go the Northern route on our way out, taking in the sights & tastes of Chicago, South Bend, Cleveland and Buffalo. For our trip home, we would go through Philly, Pittsburgh, Cincy, St. Louis, and KC.

First stop; Chicago. We took in a day game at Wrigley (Cubs Win!), toured the new and old Comiskey, and we found the childhood home of my Grandma Irene who grew up in its shadows. And we ate. Well

And as the miles passed, we continued to eat well. With each new city & field we visited, we found exciting and unexpected experiences and flavors. I now truly believe- nothing captures the heart & soul of a place quite like its ballpark & signature foods.

The Dream

On the last night of our trip we watched our Red Sox take on the Royals under the lights at Kauffman. During warm-ups we were remembering all of the amazing food we had enjoyed, the unique spins & takes in each city. By the time the post-game fireworks were falling (Sox Win!) I was already dreaming of a way to bring all of these incredible eats together under one roof, to be shared with family & friends alike. To bring something new and yet very familiar here, to our home. To serve up the beloved & authentic favorites from your Home Team’s city (no matter where that may be), and introduce you to some new ones too. And not just from this trip, but from all of our tournament travels Coast-to-Coast
